5 Questions That Build Trust

1. Who is someone that makes your life easier?

2. What do they do to help you?

3. When do you notice their impact?

4. Why do think they help you?

5. How would you feel if I could help in a similar way?

This week, during a session for new employees, Hillcrest Medical Center CEO, Xavier Villarreal, inspired us with his transparency. He shared with us the story of his son’s leukemia diagnosis. The medical journey they traveled together as a family refocused his WHY and magnified the personal aspect of healthcare.

Thank you for sharing, Xavier. Similarly, when I wrote down my WHY later that day, everything tied back to the health challenges my parents and loved ones have faced.

May the connections I make as a Physician Relations Liaison maximize the care received by Hillcrest patients. #healthcare #why #leadership

Medical Apps

Some of these apps are expensive! However, I love the ways technology assists medical professionals.

I heard someone make a great point regarding meetings this week. He said that you can arrange most meetings using the same four questions.

1. What's going right?

2. What's going wrong?

3. What's confusing?

4. What's missing?

Manage Expectations = Be Kind to Yourself

This week, I had the chance to meet 10+ CEOs and Directors within the Ardent Health Services family. The conversations were encouraging, enlightening and challenging.

Jim Kaltenbacher, CEO of Utica Park and OHI clinics said one thing that stood out. He said, “Two years. It’ll take at least two years to understand the ins and outs of this system.”  As a new employee, that was so helpful.

I will definitely hit the ground running, but envisioning a longer ramp is a way of showing myself kindness. There’s a lot to learn. Thank you, Jim, for acknowledging this and setting realistic expectations.
